Gym Genius - Workout Tracker: Log Your Fitness, Exercise & Bodybuilding Routines app good for
Having been a fan of pen and paper for a long time it was hard to find an app that could track everything i needed. Ive used several others that were solid but id say overall ive had the best experience with this app due to its easy of use, functionality and appeal. Totally worth it.
Used it all through my latest deployment and it helped me keep track of my progress very well.
It is so easy to create whatever plan you want. Any moves can be added easy. Good space for notes to make knowing if there are superset or trisets or intervals. Its amazing have been using it for YEARS!!!!
This app is literally the greatest thing to happen to me. Ever. In my entire life. Before this app came along, Id walk into the gym not knowing where to start or how much to lift. So Id start small, afraid to push myself. As you can probably imagine, I was weak, fragile looking, and lacked confidence. Ever since this app came along, things have changed. I track my every movement, constantly improving, gaining pounds of muscle, getting stronger by the day. I track my goals, my PRs, every single set and rep, everything. There is nothing that gets by me or escapes my attention. This app has revolutionized my workouts, and my life.
I use it with the body Spartan program and I was able to load the work outs directly on to the app which made life much easier
This is the perfect app for any gym goer. Its quick and easy to use and makes your workouts efficiently tracked.
Some bad moments
Its to difficult to navigate for serious lifters who are super setting, hitting complex exercises like your basic 4 or combining muscle groups..... do not pay for this app!
This app has potential but it isnt very user friendly especially for newbies.
I dont know why Im wasting money on this app when it doesnt a simplest option for logging training. You cant log training without creating a workout, its so dumb and pointless that kills whole point of the app. Please dont waste your money for this crap. Im gonna ask for refund.
This app is horrendous. The designer tries to make it look sophisticated, yet the make it confusing by not outlining how to properly use the app. Lack of customization ability as well.
Good main idea, could use a few more updates and more freedom to do things on the app as well as a tip section
Keeping records is a great way to stay on track and provides motivation for future workouts. I have been recording my workouts for over 30 years in notebooks. Of course in this day and age there should be an app to replace all that paper I have accumulated.
Gym Genius is quite flexible and adaptable, and you can look back at recent workouts fairly easily. I do like having the workout graphs and the body statistics are a great way to keep track of yourself.
Personal-record tracking is a neat feature, but I wish it could be expanded. It is nice to see the highest weight you have ever moved, but the # of reps play an important part as well. For example, you may have benched 375 for four reps, but it would be helpful to easily find how many reps you did with 350, for the days you are going a little lighter.
When building a custom workout, many different lifts are already listed, organized by body part, so you can find much of what you need quickly. And, for the more advanced gym rat, you can also create your own entries for any unusual stuff you may do when throwing around iron. Do plan, however, on spending some time away from the gym when building a custom workout as it does take some time to customize everything.
This app covers what I need for tracking weightlifting quite well. The only negative comment I have is that for a time-sensitive lifestyle, this app is a bit cumbersome to use... building a workout on the fly does take some time. On heavy days with longer rest periods this is not so bad, but on medium days with a faster tempo, especially when spotting a partner, I find it easier to keep using my notebook and put in the entries when I get home. I will say though if you create predetermined workouts and stick to that plan, strictly, using the app in real time is not bad.
Compared to other weightlifting apps I have seen/tried...this is the only one I would recommend.
